VOICE YOUR SUPPORT FOR
CDBG FUNDS IN 2012!

Contact Your Elected Officials | Join the CDBG Coalition | Join the National Fight!

For more than 38 years, the CDBG Program has empowered Los Angeles County, our local governments, and our partners to support our economy, strengthen public infrastructure, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for millions of low- and moderate-income residents.  Yet we’ve seen a serious cut in CDBG funding over the past decade.  Including the recent 16% cut for Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2011 and 22% cut for FFY 2012, Program funding in the Los Angeles Urban County has been reduced by 46% over the past 10 years.  This has equated to about a $6 million loss from last year, and a total loss of about $18 million to the Urban County annually, when compared to Program funding in FFY 2002.

Let’s not let any more critically needed dollars be stripped from our community!

As Congress deliberates the FFY 2013 budget and beyond, join us in making it known that our community depends on the CDBG Program, opposes any further cuts, and that our elected officials should maintain funding of the CDBG Program at no less than the FFY 2011 level of $3.3 billion nationally.

On this page you will find several ways you can join our community and make your voice heard.  Have your organization or city join the Housing and Community Development Coalition (HCDC), join the national fight, send a letter on how the CDBG Program helps you, or just make a phone call to our elected officials.  Let’s let Congress know that we need CDBG!

JOIN THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY HCDC COALITION

Starting early in 2011, the County of Los Angeles and several CDBG entitlement communities across the Southland began discussions on how best to show Congress the importance of the CDBG Program in our communities.  As you read this, our coalition continues to grow, with over 60 partners County-wide.  If your city, county or community organization is interested in joining our efforts, please contact Samantha Harrison at Samantha.harrison@lacdc.org or Elisa Vásquez at Elisa.vasquez@lacdc.org.

"Now more than ever it is critical for NACCED members to get local elected officials to make the case to Congress that CDBG funding must be preserved."
