RESIDENTIAL SOUND INSULATION PROGRAM

The Residential Sound Insulation Program provides grants to eligible property owners to sound insulate residential dwellings from aircraft noise caused by the Los Angeles World Airport.

To be eligible for the grants, the property must be located within designated areas of the communities of Lennox, Del Aire and Athens. Sound insulation improvements may include the replacement of windows, exterior doors, adding of attic installation, vents, electrical panel upgrades and a heating ventilation and air conditioning system.

Properties are given priority for sound insulation based upon the highest impacted areas first. This is a grant program with no cost to the property owners for sound insulation work. 

Those properties that are within the 75 db Community Noise Equivalency will be required to sign a Noise Easement prior to participating.

NOISE EASEMENT ACQUISITION PROGRAM

Those properties that are within the highest impacted area of Lennox are required to sign a Noise Easement, approved by Los Angeles World Airports, prior to any Sound Insulation work beginning.  The property must be: (1) within the 75dB Community Noise Equivalency Level Contours, (2) built before 1989, (3) and have a private exterior habitable area.  If all criteria are met and the property participates in the Sound Insulation Program, the property owner is entitled to receive $2,500 per property for single-family, duplex or triplex units and $500 for condominiums.  For more information, call (323) 890-7325 or (323) 838-5033.
