VOLUNTEER FOR THE RESIDENT ADVISORY BOARD!
You Must Be Currently Receiving Section 8 Assistance to Participate
What Is The RAB?
The Section 8 Resident Advisory Board (RAB) is comprised of Section 8 participants under Los Angeles County, Lakewood, Lawndale, Lomita, West Hollywood, Santa Fe Springs and Paramount Housing Authorities.
These Section 8 participants are volunteers who, along with staff from the Housing Authority, help to decide policies for the Section 8 and other rental assistance programs. It is a requirement under federal law that the Housing Authority consults a RAB when making major policy decisions.
Why Should I Join the RAB?
Being a RAB member is an important job. The RAB gives Section 8 participants a voice in their program. RAB members are the first to know of new changes. They also receive special presentations on fair housing and tenants' rights. As an added benefit, joining the RAB is a great way to meet new people and learn important information about your housing assistance.
Do I Have Time to Be a RAB Member?
Yes! RAB members usually only attend one or two meetings a year. Meetings are offered throughout the County so RAB members do not have to travel far from their homes.
How Can I Join the RAB?
If you are interested in joining the RAB, you can email Kerrin.Cardwell@lacdc.org or you may call (562) 347-4606 and leave a message. Please be advised that only messages regarding the RAB will be answered. If you need assistance with a different matter, please click here.
