Housing AuthorityThe Community Development Commission (CDC)/Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles (HACoLA) is the second largest Housing Authority in the Southern California Area.  HACoLA receives funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide housing subsidy to eligible low-income families residing in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County and 62 participating cities through Public Housing and the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program.

HACoLA's Assisted Housing Division (Division) administers the Los Angeles County Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, Housing Opportunities for People with Aids (HOPWA) program, the Shelter Plus Care programs, the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program, and the Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation Program.  The Division also administers the Section 8 rental assistance program on behalf of the city of West Hollywood.

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR:  Margarita Lares (biography)

Margarita Lares, AH Director
Welcome to the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles Website.

Whether you're a first-time visitor or a returning visitor, a participating Section 8 family or landlord, you will find this site full of information and resources available to you with just a click of your finger.  A quick tour of our website will give you a greater understanding of the scope and expectations of our affordable housing programs.

Here at HACoLA, we look at affordable housing as a way to provide stability for the families that we serve.  While financial instability and federal funding cuts have tightened our budget, HACoLA remains dedicated to ensuring that their effects do not impact our mission and the families we serve.  To that end, I am proud to announce that last year, HACoLA actively sought and obtained $11.7 million in federal grant funding for programs that provide the needed affordable housing to veterans, homeless individuals and families, and disabled persons throughout the County.

Lastly, I am excited to inform you that our website is currently being re-designed with you in mind.  A notable enhancement is the launch of our Owner and Tenant Portals.  I encourage our currently participating owners and families to navigate through your portal, which is located on the menu bar.  The portals provide one-stop access to contract and rent information.  Keep visiting us in the near future; you will see many changes that aim to keep you better informed.
